Fakten über: Filmfestival in Antalya
Das Antalya Film Festival, ursprünglich als Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival bekannt, erleuchtet seit 1963 jedes Jahr Antalya in der Türkei. Es ist das zweitbedeutendste Filmfestival des Landes und wird seit 2009 ausschließlich von der Antalya Stiftung für Kultur und Kunst organisiert. Das Festival findet in den Herbstmonaten im Antalya Kulturzentrum statt und umfasst sowohl nationale als auch internationale Filmwettbewerbe.
Die Anfänge des Festivals gehen auf die 1950er Jahre zurück, als kulturelle Veranstaltungen im Aspendos Amphitheater stattfanden. Im Jahr 1963 wurde es unter der Leitung von Dr. Avni Tolunay in ein Filmfestival umgewandelt. Im Laufe der Jahre erlangte es internationale Anerkennung und wurde 2002 zu einer institutionalisierten Veranstaltung unter der Antalya Kultur- und Kunststiftung.
Ein Gremium aus Kino- und Kulturexperten bewertet die Filme in verschiedenen Kategorien. Das Festival vergibt die renommierte Goldene Orange-Statuette in drei Hauptkategorien: beste nationale Spielfilme, beste nationale Dokumentarfilme und beste nationale Kurzfilme. Darüber hinaus gibt es Sonderpreise wie den Dr. Avni Tolunay Jury-Sonderpreis und den Behlül Dal Digitürk Jury-Sonderpreis für junge Talente.
Das Festival beginnt im Konyaaltı Amphitheater und endet mit einer feierlichen Preisverleihung im historischen Aspendos Amphitheater. Allerdings verlief das Festival nicht ohne Kontroversen. Im Jahr 2014 wurde ein Dokumentarfilm über die Gezi-Proteste aufgrund angeblicher rechtlicher Verstöße aus dem Programm genommen, was zu Protesten der Jury führte und mehrere Rücktritte zur Unterstützung des Filmemachers nach sich zog.
Trotz solcher Zwischenfälle bleibt das Antalya Film Festival ein bedeutender Pfeiler der kulturellen Landschaft, der türkisches Kino feiert, internationale Zusammenarbeit fördert und Exzellenz in der Filmindustrie würdigt.
