Kalandula Falls
Facts and practical information
Kalandula Falls, located in the Malanje Province of Angola, stands as one of the largest and most impressive waterfalls on the African continent. With a horseshoe shape reminiscent of North America's Niagara Falls, the Kalandula cascades plunge approximately 105 meters down into the Lucala River, creating a spectacle of natural power and beauty.
The falls stretch over 400 meters wide, making them one of the widest waterfalls in Africa. The surrounding area is rich in biodiversity, offering a lush backdrop of tropical vegetation that enhances the falls' majestic presence. The Kalandula Falls are not only a natural wonder but also a significant attraction for tourists seeking the tranquility and awe-inspiring scenery of Angola's landscapes.
Despite its grandeur, Kalandula Falls has remained relatively unexplored and less frequented by international tourists compared to other global waterfalls, offering a more secluded and intimate experience for visitors. The best time to visit is between February and April when the rainy season reaches its peak, and the falls are at their most powerful.
