Middle East Travel Guide

The Middle East is a journey into the mysterious world of the Orient and Islamic culture, where the life of inhabitants is largely subordinated to the prevailing religion. Here is also located the most sacred place for all Muslims, the holy city of Mecca, where the prophet Mohammed was born. No less important point on the map of this region is Jerusalem — the city where three religions meet: Islam, Judaism and Christianity. The Middle East area is full of monuments and remnants of old empires. The world-famous Jordans’s Petra, known as the rock city of the Nabatean kings, is impressive for its huge buildings and countless temples and tombs. Unusual architecture can also be found in Yemen’s Shibam, which is sometimes called „Manhattan of the Desert”. Some ancient cities like Palmyra and Persepolis have only ruins left, but the remains of magnificent palace complexes and places of worship give an idea of the former power.

The Middle East region also has huge world-class metropolises. Dubai and Doha surprise with their innovative buildings, numerous skyscrapers and apartment buildings, while modern hotels, expensive restaurants and exclusive stores attract numerous tourists. The city of Tel Aviv, also located on the Mediterranean Sea, is a modern agglomeration where, apart from the sandy beach and port of Jaffa, we can admire the wonders of modernist architecture.
