The Foundational Area Museum is a museum located in the city of Mendoza, in Argentina. It was founded in 1993 and has exhibitions of elements of historical and archaeological value of the region. It is located in the historic center of the Old City, on Pedro del Castillo Square, the site where the city was founded by Pedro del Castillo in 1561 and where the colonial Cabildo was located before its destruction in the Mendoza earthquake of 1861. In this site also worked the slaughterhouse, and then the municipal fair.
