Cerro López, Nahuel Huapi National Park
Facts and practical information
Cerro López is a mountain located in the province of Río Negro, Argentina, at whose foot lies the town of Colonia Suiza to the east and the lakes Moreno and Nahuel Huapi to the north and northwest respectively, located 25 kilometers from the city of San Carlos de Bariloche. It has an altitude of 2,075 meters above sea level.
The López stream collects part of the melt water from the López hill, flows down its northern slope and empties into the Moreno Oeste lake.
At the upper edge of the wooded area is the Refugio López, a mountain refuge located at 1620 meters above sea level with a capacity for 100 people, inaugurated on April 15, 1933. The refuge is accessible through a road that skirts the hill or through a path that is taken where the Lopez stream crosses the route of the Circuito Chico.
