Via Christi
Facts and practical information
Via Christi means "Way of Christ", is a 2 km theme park located in the city of Junín de los Andes, which recalls the highlights of the life of Jesus Christ represented in 23 stations, where elements of Catholic and Mapuche tradition are combined, made by architect and sculptor Alejandro Santana.
The different stations, called "solados", are squares of 12 meters in diameter that are mounted on a platform representing the sun. Inside that circle is the American cross symbolizing the four dimensions of life: upper sky, lower sky, upper earth and lower earth.
Since the year 2000, the ambitious project has been growing, focused on a historical Christ, within the framework of the interculturality of the place, in which diverse cultures such as the Christian and the Mapuche cultures are united. At the present time the work continues.
Several of the passages are inspired by the life of Blessed Laura Vicuña and Ceferino Namuncurá.
