Season and weather by month
April - May
Apr | May |
In April, temperatures begin to rise, reaching around 10°C. Days are gray, foggy and overcast, although sunshine is increasingly seen breaking through. Nights remain cool, and frosts also occur. A thaw comes over the entire country, rivers flood, and a mass of mud appears on rural roads less traveled, making some areas difficult to navigate.
It is only in May that one feels the whiff of true spring. Days are longer and sunnier, temperatures reach 15°C - 18°C. Nature awakens to life, forests turn green and meadows bloom, the landscapes are then exceptionally picturesque.

The summer months include the peak tourist season in Belarus. Long and sunny days with temperatures reaching 20°C - 25°C guarantee very good conditions for visiting cities and exploring parks, forests and lakes.
Lakes and rivers attract tourists with their natural beauty. They guarantee lazy relaxation on the shores and a field for lovers of water sports (swimming, kayaking). However, it should be remembered that even during this period, rain and thunderstorms are not unavoidable. Precipitation usually occurs in the afternoons and evenings, so it's worth planning your vacation to avoid the wettest time.

September - October
Sep | Oct |
In September, the nice, sunny weather persists. Temperatures oscillate between 15°C - 18°C, and there may also be some fleeting rainfall, but it is not so frequent and intense as to significantly complicate your visit. This is a good time for those who prefer a more intimate holiday away from the hustle and bustle of tourism. Nature taking on a variety of colorful hues encourages lovers of walks and bicycle escapades to spend time actively outdoors.
In October, however, the temperature quickly drops below 10°C, the days become cloudy and foggy. Walkers should stock up on warmer clothing, as the weather is not pampering.
November - March
Nov | Dec | Jan | Feb | Mar |
As a rule, winter is cold and snowy, with the mercury bar dropping to around -5°C. Western areas of the country are usually a few degrees warmer than eastern regions. Incoming masses of Arctic air sometimes cause frosts below -10°C. Snowfall is common throughout the country, with snow cover persisting from December to March. This is not the best time for those set on sightseeing. Some roads are covered, especially those not heavily traveled, resulting in limited access to some areas.
Winter sports enthusiasts will be pleased with the weather conditions. Belarusian winter sports centers (including Raubich, Lohoisk, Novopolotsk) tempt tourists and athletes with beautiful landscapes and good infrastructure for training. They have cross-country trails for skiers and biathletes.
