The Capitol is one of the seven hills of Rome, where the Capitoline Square is located.
The Temple of Jupiter capitolin, situated on this hill, also took the name. The three gods of the Capitoline triad were worshipped there. The Roman colonies all had a Capitol, place of worship of the same trio of gods.
