When Is the Best Time To Visit Bolivia?
The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit Bolivia depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.
Tourist Season in Bolivia
The best time to visit Bolivia includes the dry season months of May through October. Most areas of the country experience sunny, relatively rain-free weather. This is a very good time for sightseeing, trekking and climbing in the higher elevations.
When organizing an off-season trip during the summer rainy season from November to April, one must take into account the difficulties caused by the prevailing weather. Increased rains and cold, strong winds cause traffic difficulties, many areas are inaccessible, including mountainous areas where some trails are impassable, and there are also local floods.

Many areas are inaccessible to tourists due to local flooding, fog, landslides and traffic problems. Given the unfavorable aura, trekking to higher elevations is not recommended.
During the rainy season, the Salar de Uyuni salt desert is partially inaccessible, but covered with a layer of water, and its surface creates an unusual visual effect of a "huge mirror", it gives the impression as if the horizon disappears and people float in the air.
At the end of January in Bolivia, you can attend the Alasitas Fair in La Paz, where vendors at numerous stalls offer traditional miniature items.
February is the month of Carnival fun throughout the country. The celebration is particularly spectacular in the city of Oruro. In 2001, UNESCO recognized Carnaval de Oruro as a "masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity."
