The Mangal das Garças, inaugurated on January 12, 2005, is located on the banks of the Guamá River, in the historic center of Belém do Pará, in the surroundings of the Navy Arsenal. The ecological park is the result of the revitalization of a 40,000 m² area, a synthesis of the Amazon environment in the heart of the capital of Pará. The floodplain forests, the animals of the region, and more than three hundred species of native trees are present in the space.
The site has: The Amazonian Navigation Museum. Manjar das Garças, one of the best restaurants in the capital. The Aningas Nursery or Bird Nursery, where visitors have direct contact with an impressive number of birds. The Belém Lighthouse, with 47 meters high, the monumental tower-mirante of the Mangal das Garças offers two levels of observation. The Borboletarium, with an area of 1,400 m², the environment is the first of its kind in the North region and is already considered the largest in Brazil. Nursery. The Nursery and Plant Nursery. Armazém do Tempo, where visitors can buy plants, handicrafts, books, and CDs by artists from Pará and it is possible to enjoy an exquisite coffee service there.
The naturalistic park presents the different floristic macro-regions of the state, that is, the dryland forests, the floodplain forests and the grasslands.
