Morro da Ponta Grossa is a hill located in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, capital of Rio Grande do Sul.
With an altitude of 145 meters and surrounded by the waters of Lake Guaíba, the hill gives its respective neighborhood its name. It received its name in the XVIII century, being mentioned in the expedition diary of Gomes Freire de Andrade and in a map by José Custódio de Sá e Faria, dated respectively from 1754 and 1763. In addition, archaeological research has already verified the existence of a prehistoric site of Guarani occupation in the area of the hill.
