The Maré Museum is a set of actions aimed at recording, preserving, and disseminating the history of Maré communities in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in its various aspects, whether cultural, social, or economic. It involves several action centers that have the permanent exhibition as their center, but that unfold in other actions such as the organization of the documental collection; the carrying out of oral history research; the development of recreational and educational activities, such as the group of Storytellers; besides the carrying out of several events such as itinerant exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and the production of thematic material. Currently, the Dona Orosina Vieira Archive, the Elias José Library, courses, and other special projects, such as Marias Maré and the weekly Maré Ponto Cine film screening, operate in this space.
