The Municipal Dam Park is the most important urban park in São José do Rio Preto, State of São Paulo. It was inaugurated on October 1, 1955 and is considered the postcard of the city.
Managed by the Secretary of Environment of the São José do Rio Preto City Hall, its reservoir is responsible for supplying 20% to 25% of the water that reaches the city's residents, after being treated at the Palácio das Águas.
The site has a walking track with 2.7 thousand linear meters, gym equipment for stretching and weight training, and kiosks for the leisure of families and children on school excursions.
More than ten species of wild animals, mammals and fish, and a great diversity of algae and plants make up the park's ecosystem.
In 2007, with 5,114 votes, the Municipal Dam was elected one of the seven wonders of São José do Rio Preto. The musical fountain installed in its waters is the second largest in the country, smaller only than the one at Ibirapuera Park in São Paulo. The ornament has more than 30 jets of water reaching a height of approximately 15 meters.
