Parque Tanguá is one of the main parks in the city of Curitiba, capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná. With 235 000 m2, it is located in the northern region of the city, in the neighborhoods Pilarzinho and Taboão. It was inaugurated on November 23, 1996 by then mayor Rafael Greca de Macedo, and built where there used to be two quarries, deactivated in the 1970s.
It occupies an area of 235 thousand m², and guarantees the preservation of the northern basin of the Barigui River, very close to its source, in the municipality of Almirante Tamandaré. It has two lakes and an artificial tunnel. It also has an anchorage, bike path, running track, snack bar, and two parking lots for cars.
In the upper area is the Poty Lazzarotto Garden, inaugurated on June 6, 1998 by then mayor Cassio Taniguchi. The name is a tribute to local artist Poty Lazzarotto. Attached, there is a belvedere 65m from the lake in the lower area.
The fauna is composed of ducks, bats, opossums, armadillos, teals, as well as other birds, water snakes, and other animals, while the park's flora is composed of whitewater, velvet, maria-mole, tarumã, aroeira, congonha, bromeliads, araucarias, cinnamon, peach trees, oaks, coffee trees, yerba mate, among other species.
