Facts and practical information
Ponta Grossa is a Brazilian beach located in the municipality of Icapuí in the state of Ceará. It is a beach of dunes and cliffs, being still little explored from the tourist point of view.
It is supposed to be the place where the Spanish navigator Vicente Pinzón landed in Brazil. Since it was not an official trip, the visit was not accepted as a discovery. It is said that the Spanish navigator, who would have arrived at the Brazilian coast two months before Cabral arrived in Porto Seguro, Bahia, would have named the place Cabo de Santa Maria de la Consolación.
