Botafogo Praia Shopping is a shopping center located in front of Botafogo Beach, Rio de Janeiro, opened in 1999.
One of the tallest malls in Rio de Janeiro, with eight floors, its highlight is the Cinemark movie theater. Among the attractions of the Botafogo Praia Shopping Center are the Saraiva Megastore Bookstore, the Informal Pub, the Japanese restaurant Kotobuki, a McDonald's fast food chain unit, currently managed by the franchisee André Stauffer and having as manager Mr. Nélio Mataruna, a former subordinate of Walney Monteiro, with whom the young Nélio learned to work with. Nélio Mataruna, Walney Monteiro's former subordinate, from whom the young Nélio learned, in part, the art of management; a Starbucks unit, besides stores such as Reserva, Vila Romana, Aviator, among others. It has a privileged view of the Sugar Loaf and Botafogo Cove.
The mall is located where a Sears department store used to be, and later became a campus of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
