Facts About Ambuyat
Ambuyat is a distinctive dish made from the pith of the sago palm, characterized by a mild and starchy flavor reminiscent of tapioca. This dish is honored as the national dish of Brunei and is also cherished as a local delicacy in regions of Malaysia, including Sarawak, Sabah, and Labuan (where it is sometimes referred to as linut). Enjoying Ambuyat is a unique culinary experience; it is traditionally eaten with a bamboo fork known as a chandas. The chandas is used to twirl the starch around its prongs before dipping it into an array of flavorful sauces. In eastern Indonesia, you might encounter a similar dish called papeda, which is notable for its glutinous and chewy texture.
