Facts About Hylarana mortenseni
Sylvirana mortenseni, commonly referred to as Mortensen's frog or the Koh Chang Island frog, is a true frog species endemic to Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. This species is named after Ole Theodor Jensen Mortensen, a Danish zoologist who first identified the holotype on Koh Chang Island.
Mortensen's frog typically inhabits evergreen forests on mountain slopes, as well as gallery forests. Remarkably, this adaptable species can also be found in heavily disturbed areas and along forest edges. However, despite its resilience in adapting to altered environments, deforestation and habitat destruction continue to pose significant threats to its survival.
