Sclerophrys maculata, commonly known as Hallowell's toad, the flat-backed toad, or the striped toad, is a species endemic to Africa and belongs to the Bufonidae family. These toads inhabit a diverse array of natural environments, such as subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests, montane forests, savannas, shrublands, grasslands, rivers, marshes, and ponds. They are also found in anthropogenic settings like canals and ditches. Despite their adaptability, they are significantly threatened by habitat destruction.
