Cultral Park, Guangzhou

Guangzhou Culture Park is a park located in Guangzhou City, China, near the Pearl River. It is a comprehensive cultural and recreational place mainly for propaganda and exhibition, recreation and sports, landscaping and amusement activities. The park covers an area of 8.3 hectares, with 1.55 hectares of greenery. It has a large open square, a center stage, an exhibition center, an exhibition hall, a fishery hall, a dolphin hall, an ice skating rink, a chess hall, a cinema, a fitness playground, an antique garden building, a playground, and a 23-story cultural and entertainment square under construction. Every year, three major exhibitions are held: Spring Fling, Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival and Yangcheng Chrysanthemum Festival. Guangzhou Culture Park is adjacent to Nanfang Mansion, Aikun Hotel, White Swan Hotel, Sha Mian Island and other commercial areas such as Thirteen Houses and Renmin South Road. Metro Line No. 6 and Metro Line No. 8 extension will have a station at the park, which is located on the west side of the park.

The original site of the park was the ruins left by Japanese warplanes when they bombed Guangzhou during the war against Japan. In 1952, the South China Native Products Exhibition and Exchange Conference was built in the ruins, which was renamed Lingnan Cultural Relics Palace in 1952 and renamed Guangzhou Cultural Park in 1956 with reference to the then Soviet Union's Gorky Cultural Park, the first park named after culture in China.
