St. Catherine's Church, Zagreb

St. Catherine's Church is a historic jewel nestled in the heart of Zagreb, Croatia. This Baroque church, dating back to the 17th century, stands as a testament to the city's rich religious and architectural heritage. Constructed by the Jesuits between 1620 and 1632, St. Catherine's Church was built on the site of a former church that was destroyed by fire. The church we see today was heavily restored after suffering significant damage during an earthquake in the 19th century. Despite these restorations, St. Catherine's retains its original Baroque charm, with an interior adorned with stunning frescoes and elaborate stucco work.

The facade of the church is equally impressive, with its ornate portal and the statues of saints that stand guard by the entrance. The church's interior boasts a main altar that is a masterpiece of Baroque art, created by the renowned sculptor Ivan Martini.
