The Kuldjala Tower is a defense tower of Tallinn City Wall, at Kütklütooli Street 1a. To the left of the Golden Tower is the sauna tower and the back of the nun is on the right.
The tower was probably founded in 1311-1320 as the corner tower of the Western Wall of the city. The name of the tower de Guldene Voet dates back to 1434. Later, the tower was extended to the north of the wall and the Loewenschede tower was built. The tower is five -story.
The formation of the Golden Tower is distinguished by several sites of construction. Significant rebuilds were made 1370-1372, after 1422 and probably in the 1610s, when the final height of the Golden Jala Tower was 22.5 m. The tower is about 10 m in diameter.
The battle platform of the tower was at 22 meters and was not covered with a roof only in the 15th century, previously the tower was open from above.
The upper floors were used for defense purposes and the lower warehouse. The tower is a horseshoe -shaped tower, its so -called heels are straightened.
The tower is well preserved and is used as an exhibition site, lecture and concert premises under the leadership of the youth movement. According to the Kuldjala Tower, the Golden Jala Singing Society, which occasionally gives concerts there, is named.
