The Romain Rolland Museum of Art and History, in Clamecy, in the French department of Nièvre, was founded in 1876. It is housed in the Hôtel de Bellegarde, in the house where Romain Rolland was born, in the house of his maternal grandfather and in a contemporary extension. The fact that it is partly located in the house where Romain Rolland was born has earned it the Maisons des Illustres label.
It is open from 10 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm. It is closed on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from October 1 to April 30. It is closed on Sunday mornings and Tuesdays from May 2 to September 30. It is also closed from November 15 to March 15.
