The Ideal Palace is a monument built in Hauterives by the factor Ferdinand Cheval, from 1879 to 1912.

A masterpiece of naive architecture and art, it has been classified as a historical monument since 1969.

In a nationwide vote organized during the summer of 2020 by the producers of the French TV show Le Monument préféré des Français, broadcast on France Télévisions, the Palais idéal was ranked second on a list of fourteen monuments. Its construction was also the subject of a French biographical film directed by Nils Tavernier and released in 2018.
