Gardens of Versailles, Versailles

The Gardens of Versailles stand as a testament to the grandeur of French landscaping and the opulence of royal taste. This expansive park, adjoining the Palace of Versailles in the city of Versailles, France, is a masterpiece of classic French garden design. Envisioned by King Louis XIV and brought to life by the landscape architect André Le Nôtre in the 17th century, the gardens cover about 800 hectares of land, meticulously manicured to showcase the might and mastery of the Sun King's reign.

With its symmetrical patterns, the Gardens of Versailles are an emblem of the Baroque style, where art and nature are intertwined to create an awe-inspiring spectacle. The park is adorned with a collection of 50 fountains, each with its own unique sculptural ensemble, representing various mythological themes and characters. The Gardens of Versailles are also home to approximately 200,000 trees, numerous statues, and the Orangerie, which houses a large variety of citrus trees that are sheltered during the winter months. The meticulous care of the gardens involves the seasonal planting of about 210,000 flowers, ensuring that the park remains vibrant throughout the year.
