St. Martin's Church, Pons
Facts and practical information
The church of Saint-Martin is the more important of the two parish churches of the city of Pons, in Charente-Maritime.
Located in the heart of the upper town, in the historic center, this former Protestant temple was converted into a Catholic place of worship in 1629 at the instigation of the Récollets, who made it the chapel of their new convent. Considerably enlarged in the first half of the 19th century, the church was consecrated again on November 18, 1834.
It is listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments since October 26, 1998.
