The great synagogue of Marseille is the main synagogue of Marseille. It was built in the second half of the 19th century, the first stone being laid on July 15, 1863. It was inaugurated on September 22, 1864.
The synagogue located at 117 rue Breteuil, in the 6th district of Marseille, has been registered as a historical monument since August 1, 2007.
It has been renamed Breteuil - Beth Yossef Synagogue since Wednesday, December 18, 2018.
