Basilique Saint-Sernin, Toulouse

The Basilique Saint-Sernin stands as a beacon of Romanesque architecture in the heart of Toulouse, France. This storied church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a pinnacle of medieval artistry and one of the largest remaining Romanesque buildings in Europe. Erected over the relics of Saint Saturnin, a martyr and the first bishop of Toulouse, the basilica has been a significant pilgrimage stop on the Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela since the 11th century.

With its five-aisled transept and ambulatory, the Basilique Saint-Sernin is renowned for its harmonious proportions and the radiating chapels that encircle its apse.
