Chapelle Notre-Dame des Vignes, Visan
Facts and practical information
The chapel of Notre-Dame-des-Vignes in Visan, in the enclave of the popes, is a rural place of worship whose primitive construction has been dated to the first half of the 13th century. Called Notre-Dame-d'Entre-les-Vignes until the 18th century, it had the particularity of being placed under the responsibility of rectoresses. It remains today a place of pilgrimage for the Confrérie Saint-Vincent de Visan which, during its summer chapter, in the presence of the king, the queen and the newly elected lieutenant of the confrérie, has a vine blessed, the souco in Provençal, in the hope of a good and beautiful future harvest.
