Facts and practical information

The Chesne cross is a stone cross located in Le Chesne, France. Several hypotheses have been made about its meaning. But it is probably, quite simply, a crossroads cross, a waymarker. It was also a place to stop and pray. Monuments of this model were once quite common on the roads of France, but today only six or seven remain on the national territory.
