The castle of Saint-Chartier is located in the French commune of Saint-Chartier in the department of Indre and the region Centre-Val de Loire.
Fortress composed of a keep primitively flanked by four corner towers with an interior court. In the park remains a gallery with arcades of the XIIIth century.
George Sand set her novel Les Maîtres sonneurs there.
For 32 years, the castle hosted the Saint-Chartier festival, called the International Meetings of Violinmakers and Master Violinmakers, until 2008. Following the change of ownership, the festival moved to the château d'Ars and the restoration of the château was started.
