The castle of Saint-Maur is a castle located in Argent-sur-Sauldre, in the Cher department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
This house was built during the 18th century. It was acquired in 1764 by Nicolas Dupré de Saint-Maur, who was appointed Intendant of the Generalitat of Bourges. The main architect of the Berrichon building was Victor Louis.
During the second half of the 18th century, the castle underwent numerous renovations and was provided with additional outbuildings. In addition, the space surrounding the building was reorganized to accommodate a park and landscaped gardens.
The garden factory, known as the "Temple of Bacchus", located in the park of the Château de Saint-Maur, was classified as a French historical monument by order of July 11, 2002.
Finally, the main building of the castle currently houses the Museum of Old Crafts of Argent-sur-Sauldre.
