Les Périades
Facts and practical information
The Périades are a ridge of rocky points on the French side of the Mont-Blanc massif, culminating at an altitude of 3,549 m and extending over 1.5 km in length between the Col du Mont Mallet and the Col du Tacul. They dominate the Périades glacier to the west and the Mont Mallet glacier to the east.
Until the end of the 19th century, Les Périades was the name given to the aiguille du Tacul, which is clearly visible from Montenvers. Geoffrey Winthrop Young and his guide Joseph Knubel had climbed three unidentified summits before 1914.
