Facts and practical information
The Charterhouse of Mont-Sainte-Marie or Charterhouse of Notre-Dame d'Aillon, more commonly known as the Charterhouse of Aillon, is a former monastery of the Carthusian order, located in the town of Aillon-le-Jeune, in the French department of Savoie in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
The monastic establishment was founded in the Bauges in the second half of the 12th century by Count Humbert III, known as of Savoy, who endowed the monks who were probably already installed. The only remaining building is registered in 1994 as a historical monument. Since 2008, it has been home to the Maison du patrimoine du parc naturel régional du massif des Bauges.
