The castle of Bourget, also called castle of Thomas II or castle of the counts of Savoy, is an old castle-palace, of the middle of the XIIIth century enlarged over time, whose ruins stand in France on the town of Le Bourget-du-Lac, in the department of Savoy in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
A place of hunting and fishing but also a place of diplomacy and justice for the counts of Savoy, it was reached either by road or by boat.
Possession of the counts of Savoy, it should not be confused with the castle of the dukes of Savoy which are two different buildings, the last one located on the commune of Chambéry.
The ruins of the Bourget castle have been classified as historical monuments since March 21, 1983.
