Facts and practical information
The church of Civaux, located in the Vienne department, is one of the oldest in France. It is dedicated to Saint Gervais and Saint Protais, two twin brothers, martyred in the first century. The cult is very widespread in Poitou after the discovery of the bodies of these two martyrs in 386 in Milan. Also, there are other churches in the area with the same name: L'Isle-Jourdain, Millac, Persac and Nérignac.
The current building is the result of important restructurings over the centuries, thus testifying to its age.
