Facts and practical information
The château des Ormes is located on the RN 10 between Tours and Poitiers, in the commune of Les Ormes, on the banks of the Vienne river. It was built by the Pussort brothers, uncles of Jean-Baptiste Colbert, from 1642. It was acquired in 1729 by Count Marc-Pierre Voyer d'Argenson, Minister of War of Louis XV, friend of Diderot and d'Alembert who dedicated the Encyclopedia to him. It housed famous guests including Voltaire.
