Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church
Facts and practical information
The church of the Assumption of Our Lady of Champ-le-Duc is a Romanesque building built in the 12th century on the site of an alleged 9th century villa whose foundation is attributed to the emperor Charlemagne himself, who used to come and hunt in the area. The church has undergone several restorations, especially in the eighteenth century, after the Second World War, and at the end of the twentieth century following a fire. The building has been classified as a historical monument since March 7, 1908.
The organ, attributed to Nicolas Dupont, built in 1781, then transformed by Jacquot Jeanpierre in 1871, was classified as a historical monument on December 6, 1965.
