Facts and practical information

The castle of Avully is a former fortified house, of the XIVth century, chief town of the seigniory of Avully, located on the commune of Brenthonne in the department of Haute-Savoie, in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

The ruins of the old fortified house, which has since been restored, were listed as a historical monument by a decree of May 3, 1974. Previously, on August 30, 1946, a decree of the Ministry of National Education, based on the law of May 2, 1930 and on the opinion of the Departmental Commission of Sites, had classified the entire site as a "picturesque site of the Haute-Savoie", on several hectares bounded by the stream of Avully, the roads from Bons-en-Chablais to Armoy as well as the vicinal road.
