The abbey of Baume-les-Dames or Sainte-Odile abbey is a Benedictine abbey located in the commune of Baume-les-Dames.
Originally named Palma or Palmense Monasterium, the Benedictine abbey is said to have been founded in the 4th century by Saint Germain, archbishop of Besançon, or by Garnier, mayor of the palace of Burgundy, who died in the late 6th century. It bears the name of Saint Odile who hid there to escape her father and who, according to legend, recovered her sight. The abbey was rebuilt in the 18th century.
