Notre-Dame Chapel
Facts and practical information
Notre-Dame de Kerdévot is a Catholic church located in the commune of Ergué-Gabéric, in Brittany. Monument whose foundation date is not known, it was rebuilt in the XVth century in devotion to the Holy Virgin, after a plague epidemic had ravaged the region.
The Gothic church is located in an enclosure with a calvary from the 16th century and a sacristy from the 18th century. A gothic style fountain, reputed to cure fever and catarrh, is located 300 meters from the enclosure. The architectural ensemble is a remarkable example of the period of reconstruction following the war of succession of Brittany and of the Breton golden age of the 15th and 16th centuries. The enclosure is classified as a historical monument since May 9, 1914.
The chapel is also renowned for its statuary, notably its Flemish altarpiece from the end of the 15th century, and its annual pardon held on the second Sunday of September.
