Facts and practical information

The Monument to the dead of the Moroccan Division, inaugurated in 1925, commemorates the breakthrough made by the regiments of the Moroccan Division, commanded by General Georges Louis Humbert, during the battle of Artois, on May 9, 1915. It is located in the commune of Givenchy-en-Gohelle, in the Pas-de-Calais department.

During this breakthrough, the 2nd marching regiment of the 1st foreign regiment and the 7th regiment of Algerian riflemen particularly distinguished themselves and were both cited in the army order.
