The fortress of Châtel-sur-Moselle located in Châtel-sur-Moselle in the Vosges is one of the largest castles in Europe. It covers five hectares, has twenty-two towers and 1.4 km of ramparts, three floors of galleries and underground rooms. The fortress bears witness to the evolution of fortification from the 11th to the 16th century and an early adaptation to metal ball artillery.
The fortress is partly classified and partly registered as a historical monument since April 1988.
