Chapelle de Penvern
Facts and practical information
The chapel of Penvern or chapel of Our Lady of Penvern or chapel of Our Lady of Citeaux-Penvern or chapel of Our Lady of Bon-Secours is located on the territory of the town of Trébeurden, in the department of Côtes-d'Armor, in Brittany. Alongside the chapel, a long ashlar base, oriented from east to west, allows pilgrims to take a rest. According to the legend, its construction date goes back to 1300, it would be the work of the Cistercian monks of Bégard, and would have followed the discovery of a statue of the Virgin, several centuries old. The cult of the Virgin appeared late in France and in Brittany and the discovery of a statue of her at such a time seems impossible according to some researchers.
Located a little away from the village of Penvern, it is close to green shades. The water sounds from all sides.
