Moulin de Dosches, Dosches
Facts and practical information
The mill of Dosches, is the recent reconstruction of a windmill typical of those that were installed in Champagne in the eighteenth century. It is located in the commune of Dosches, in the department of Aube.
It was built from October 2004 to October 2006, under the aegis of the Association des Moulins à vent Champenois, on the plans of those of the past.
It is an all-wooden mill built on a pivot, meaning that it must be rotated to face the wind for better efficiency. Despite the mill's 28 tons, it only takes two men to push the lever and turn the mill.
The mill is used for educational and exhibition purposes. As well as for the production of flour sold at the store.
A traditional bread oven has been built near the mill, as well as an ancient garden.
