Church of Our Lady of the Assumption
Facts and practical information
Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Church is a Catholic parish church located in Évecquemont, in the Yvelines region of France. It is a building of generous dimensions, but of little architectural care, except for the Renaissance porch built around 1565 under the architect Nicolas Le Mercier; the Renaissance north aisle of the same period, but disfigured by a repair campaign in 1738; and the choir of radiant Gothic style of the second half of the 13th century. It is composed of a right bay flanked by two chapels, and an apse with five sides. This part of the church is the best preserved, and of a certain artistic value. The church of Notre-Dame was registered as a historical monument by order of July 19, 1926. It is now affiliated to the parish of Meulan, and Sunday masses are celebrated there every fifth Sunday at 9 am.
