Château de Boves, Boves
Facts and practical information
The medieval fortress of Boves is located on the territory of the commune of Boves, 8 km south-east of Amiens, in the Somme. All that remains today is the motte castrale surmounted by two sections of wall about ten meters high, the remains of the southeast tower of the last aristocratic residence built at the end of the 14th century on this entirely man-made mound. The archaeological research carried out without interruption since 1996 has led to a profound renewal of our knowledge of this site, as well as more globally on the adaptation of the chief town of a major regional power center of high level between the 9th and 17th centuries.
