Église Saint-Martin Saint-Léonard
Facts and practical information
The church of Saint-Martin-et-Saint-Léonard is a Catholic parish church located in Vez, in the department of Oise, France. Its most remarkable part is its small rectangular choir of Gothic style, which dates from the years 1225 / 1230 and is of a sober elegance. The slightly squat bell tower, of an older generation, flanks it to the north and towers just above it. Its first floor houses the chapel of the Virgin. Four times longer than the choir is the unvaulted nave of the mid-twelfth century, whose partially exposed framework retains some engoulants. Although largely dominated by the choir on the outside, it reaches, inside, the same height under ceiling as the latter. The nave is especially noteworthy for its rather original western facade, preserved without any alteration, and the large flamboyant Gothic arches towards the north aisle, which ends at the base of the bell tower. The church was registered as a historical monument by order of April 3, 1926. It is now affiliated with the parish of Saint-Sébastien de Crépy-en-Valois, and Sunday masses are celebrated there every two months, at 11:00 am.
