Ruines de la chapelle de Languidou, Plovan
Facts and practical information
The chapel of Languidou is located in the commune of Plovan, in Brittany. From an administrative point of view, it is in the department of Finistère, district of Quimper. From an ethnographic point of view, it is in the Pays Bigouden, in Basse-Cornouaille.
Today in ruins, this chapel of the middle of the XIII th century preserves charm and beauty. It also has its place in the history of art, as it is perhaps the founding building of the architectural style known as the Pont-Croix School. It competes for this title with the collegiate church of Notre-Dame de Roscudon, in Pont-Croix: because of the impossibility of dating them with sufficient precision, it is impossible to know which of the two buildings is the prototype of the style.
