Altorf Abbey was a monastery that was occupied by the Benedictines from 974 to 1790. Founded in 974 by the Count of Eguisheim. Plundered several times from the Peasants' War until the end of the Thirty Years' War. In 1606, the affiliation to the Congregation of Bursfelde is ratified. In 1624 it was incorporated into the Benedictine congregation of Strasbourg. It was suppressed by the French Revolution of 1789.
